octet for February’s ending

                             February 28, 2016

the tea oil camellias scatter flowers rust
tinged on lawns—but the daffodils seem okay

rain falls in quarter notes pianissimo:
light erratic touch on chipped ivory keys

things left on the wet street: that oval brass frame
lacking a photo, spilled glass vase, tears in rain

lily magnolia teacup blooms soon enough
will shatter in this wind, disperse with your voice
